Traditionally, during Spirit Week, LOLHS students have enjoyed a week’s worth of festive, dress-up days, all culminating in the Pep Rally at the end of the week. This year, however, changes are coming to Spirit Week and the Pep Rally. Instead of a Pep Rally during the last hour of the school day on Friday, it has been decided that Friday will be a half day of classes, followed by Field Day for the rest of the school day. This is a new tradition, transformed from the former Carnival Night—a popular school event with various games and activities, as well as carnival food, usually held on a Friday night towards the end of the school year. However, students chose to mix it up this year and turn Carnival Night into Field Day.

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering, what will become of the Pep Rally? Well, not to fear, for the Pep Rally will still be held as usual. Classes will be 28 minutes long, and will be in the order of 1, 2, 5, 7, and 8. Then first lunch will begin at 10:15 with period 6 starting at 10:42, and second lunch will begin at 10:46 with period six beginning at 10:15. Students will then report to their homeroom for attendance then go to the gym for the Pep Rally, which will last until 12:00. After that, Field Day festivities will run until 2:10. The Spirit Week days will also run as they have in past years.
