Girls Soccer entered this Saturday’s home game ready not just to win, but to honor this year’s six graduating seniors: Keelin Hurtt, Madeline Ouellette, Emily Rivera, Julia Smith, Bianca Tinnerello, and Madeline Zrenda. These six have been instrumental in the Lady Wildcats winning three Shoreline Conference Titles and two State Championships the past three years. With eyes set on the upcoming shoreline tournament, Girls Soccer continued their winning streak today unfazed by Valley Regional.

The first half saw a myriad of chances for Lyme-Old Lyme to score, but none were able to be converted.  Maddie Ouellette had the first chance for the Wildcats five minutes into the game with a shot that narrowly missed the goal. Junior Mya Johnson had two headers that went into the gloves of the Valley Regional keeper. As the half winded down to the last ten minutes, the Lady Wildcats really got going. Ouellette broke through on goal but was rushed by the keeper. Freshman Kaylee Armenia had a close shot parried away. The half ended 0 – 0, but Lyme-Old Lyme had most of the possession of the ball with Valley incapable of penetrating the Wildcat defense.

The second half was a different story. Less than two minutes into the half, Maddie Zrenda scored a superb goal from outside the box. Ten minutes later, Mya Johnson dribbled through three Valley players to score a second after being assisted by junior Caroline Wallace. Not long after, forward Danielle McCarthy was assisted by Britney DeRoehn to make it 3 – 0. Kaylee Armenia got the last goal of the game unassisted with eight minutes left on the clock. LOLHS Girls Soccer had just won their sixteenth straight game with a commanding 4 – 0 victory over Valley Regional.
