At Lyme-Old Lyme High School ECOS club this morning there was a visitor from the Old Lyme Flood and Erosion committee. A committee of volunteers who want to aid in the flooding occurring in our town. He informed us that because of how close we are to the flood plain this causes our flood insurance to majorly go up. In order for our insurance to go down we are able to help our community earn points granted by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) doing things to make us less affected by the floods and disasters that could occur. It was very interesting to learn about how certain areas could be affected by flooding and hurricanes and what things we could do to make our town better.
