LOLHS Artwork in Future Choices Art Show
The LOLHS art department is proud to announce the results from this year’s Future Choices Art Show, which is sponsored by the Shoreline Art Alliance. In the printmaking category, junior Emily Archer took first place for her piece “Distortion,” as well as winning second place for drawing. Senior Skyelar Shaw took two third-place awards in drawing and painting, for her canvas entitled “Old Books. ” Junior Claudia Mergy took first place in painting for her piece “Asparagus and Cupcakes,” and senior Maggie Berger took an honorable mention in sculpture. All eighteen of LOLHS’s submitted works were judged in the show, including pieces by Penelope Small, Lauren King, Brandon Lee, Sophie Warlitz, Abby Berger, and Natalie Rugg. The students’ hard work also earned LOLHS the Judy Streeter Outstanding School Award for the fourth year in a row!
Students who live in the twenty-four town Shoreline region can submit up to three original works each for this judged competition. Cash prizes and scholarship awards are awarded to winners. If you are interested in viewing these award-winning art works, from now until March 7th the Sill House Gallery are having these items on display for the general public to view. The hours are 10:00-4:00 on Monday through Saturday. The students deserve a big congratulations for their hard work and effort!
