Oh, bless the lord,

for the April rains

have come.

Thaw the earth;

soften its hardened edges.

Join the evanescing snow,

and fill the streams

in their everlasting flow.

Dear rain, do not yet go,

for souls and flowers alike

still yearn for your renewal;

waiting in nature’s soothing womb.

Please, hide the tears that

erode my love’s face,

blur the sights,

until life takes winter’s place.
