The Spanish Honor Society has highlighted the country of Peru for this week’s bulletin board. Peru is a country located in the North Western area of South America. The ECE Spanish classes have spent time learning about Peru due to its important history of Incan culture. The Incas ruled this area for decades until Spaniards colonized the area which caused a dent into the fulfillment of their culture. However the ancient Incan culture is a major draw to tourism, specifically to the ancient ruins named Machu Picchu. An important impact of Peruvian culture to the Americas is their unique cuisine. Two types of food that are very popular are Anticuchos cow hearts over yellow rice, and Lomo Saltado steak with grilled peppers over potatoes. A popular restaurant right in Connecticut, The Forbidden Llama located in Middletown Connecticut.
