What classes do you teach?
“I teach chemistry and physics. I have four chem sections and one physics.”
What do you like about LOLHS so far?
“It’s a really great area. I moved here, I didn’t grow up around here so I hadn’t really been to Eastern CT before…I’ve been going to the beach. Everyone at school has been really nice and super helpful with getting set up and just getting started. So yeah, it’s been a really great experience.”
How long have you been teaching for?
“This is actually my first full year as a high school teacher. I was a student-teacher last year at New Milford High School…I also taught online college classes, both math and science for eight years. I also worked as a special ed para in New Milford for three years.”
What is your favorite thing about teaching?
“I think probably my favorite thing about teaching is just feeling like you can make a positive impact on the world. Like everyday you can do something positive, you get to have interactions with people and that’s really nice.”
What college did you attend?
“I went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute…and I also got a masters degree at NC State.”
What subject would you teach if you didn’t teach science?
“I would definitely be a math teacher. When I was becoming a teacher I was deciding if I wanted to do math or science. I went with science because that was always my favorite subject. I’ve actually had more experience tutoring in math. But, it all kinda relates.”
Do you have any hobbies?
“I do, so I go hiking. Like I’ve said I’ve done a lot of that over here in the summer. I like videogames and I like reading a lot. Mostly sci-fi.”
Do you have a favorite book?
“That’s tough, actually. Probably my favorite book is one called ‘Wool”. That one’s really good. It’s basically a lot of people in the future and they live underground and they don’t know why…It’s cool, it’s a little bit like “Fallout”…”
What is your favorite movie?
“2001.”
Do you have any pets?
“I don’t, I’ve had cats before so I’m more of a cat person. I’ve also had an aquarium so I’m hoping to maybe get that set-up.”
